Although I think your other self-portraits are wonderful, I like this one the best. While your other paintings have a calm, ethereal atmosphere, this one is much more chaotic and dark. I read in the comments for this picture that you purposely made it unbalanced, so that the viewer's eye would be pulled in multiple directions. Usually I really dislike when artists do that, but its perfect for this painting! It enhances the conflict you seem to be feeling here, as if the darkness at the top is what the viewer will see if he or she pulls your hands away. It's like what you're trying to hide is all around you. That might not be what you intended, but I love it either way. I'm going through a difficult period in my life now, and I can really relate to that. :+fav:

The painting is rather captivating, and I cannot help staring at the wonderful colors, and the bold shadings. I can see "stress" and emotional pain in this piece, like one has done something she regrets ye she finds it difficult to correct her faults...so she burries her face into her hands and repeats "I'm doomed" over and over again... Yes, a truly wonderful painting!

wonderful, but the darks kinda pull together, it takes away from the person, for some reason i automatically want to look at the top.

That was the intention, pulling the viewer in two different directions... the meaning of this is different for everyone of course, but i'm glad to see it's working!
